I finished my third piece with the Kantha stitch background in two colors. The stitches should have been more random, but I didn't start out that way and had to finish the whole piece in nice neat lines. I'm not sure I'll use the Kantha stitch again. Now to do the fourth piece. I'm going to use the periwinkle felt but don't know yet how I will approach it.

This is a nice series of samples. I like them all, but the last one the best.
A beautiful piece!
Thank you, Ladies!
I'm amazed how these pieces evolved from Sharon's Challenge. I probably would never had made anything like this, otherwise. I'm now working out how to do the fourth piece, but I'm anxious to see what the February Challenge will be.
Wow, most people seem to be struggling with 1 piece, let alone 4, I am impressed, seriously. I love this one. Why wont you use the Kantha stitch again? You seemed to have coped very well with it.
Jacqui,
If you look at the sampler that inspired me to do the third piece, you can see how random the stitches are. I wasn't able to make them very random. I guess I feel I failed to do it correctly, but on second thought I do like the way the running stitch looks mimicking the shapes it goes around. So, I guess I will keep the Kantha stitch in some form in my "basket" of stitches.
I like this piece very much. Thank you for introducing me to the kantha stitch. I'd like to learn more about it. The stitching is beautiful in your piece. As an aside, the links are broken in your Take it further blog post here:
(http://takeitfurtherchallenge.blogspot.com/2008/01/january-admiration-for-jean-littlejohns.html). I found you by way of google. You might want to fix them so people can find you more easily ;-)
Thanks Juanita,
I think I fixed the link problem.
